Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, was recently elected to Chelsea Groton Bank’s Board of Trustees. He became a Corporator of the Bank in April 2022.

Mystic, CT (November 11, 2019) — The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has received a grant from The Edward and Mary Lord Foundation of Norwich that will advance the Coogan Farm project that began five years ago when the Center acquired the property.
The three-year grant, which totals $250,000, will “allow us to further our collaboration with our neighbors the Denison Homestead and Mystic Seaport Developers of Connecticut’s first offshore wind farm, Eversource and Ørsted, today announced their economic development commitments and community contributions as part of their Constitution Wind project bid, which was submitted to the state in late September in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP) for offshore wind energy generation.

Mystic, CT – As part of commitment to animal care, Mystic Aquarium implements a comprehensive behavioral enrichment and training program that supports the mental and physical health and stimulation of its animals. This holiday season, Mystic Aquarium has created an exciting new way for its friends to support those efforts. The Winterfest “Giving Tree” provides a way to give back to the animals that guests have grown to know and admire at Mystic Mystic, CT – On Friday night, December 7, nearly 5,500 guests visited Mystic Aquarium as part of Olde Mistick Village’s Festival of Lights. In a salute to the ocean planet, Aquarium guests are invited to learn more about the vital role of the world’s oceans while discovering Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation has announced the distribution of $107,400 to 38 eastern CT non-profits that will improve the quality of life for thousands of children in the region.
The Foundation raised funds throughout 2017 with fundraisers including the 6th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Resort Casino in April and the 34th Annual Holiday Gala held at Mohegan Sun in December.
“I would like to thank the community for its continued support of Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has renewed its support of Mystic Aquarium’s Frogs! exhibit by gifting the aquarium $15,000.
The credit union first announced its partnership with Mystic Aquarium in 2016 during the grand opening celebration of its Mystic Branch, where Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer, presented the aquarium with a $15,000 donation in support of its mission to care for and protect our ocean through conservation, education and Rodney A. Butler, Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut at the organization’s Annual Meeting on January 26, 2018. He takes over for Brian A. Orenstein, President and CEO of Charter Federal Credit Union, who served two years as Chairman and will remain on the board.
Virginia L. Mason, United Way’s President and CEO, said that “Rodney cares deeply for the health and well-being of our community. He Mystic, CT – Mystic Aquarium recently rolled out the “Cabin Fever” promotion as a way to help families beat the winter blues. Discounted admission to enjoy fluorescent fish, playful penguins, beautiful belugas and so much more will go a long way toward curing cabin fever. Now in its fourth year, Dinner in the Dark is the major annual fundraiser for Sofia Sees Hope, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research and providing education and support to families affected by blindness caused by Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA) and other rare inherited retinal diseases.
This event comes at a Eastern CT – The United States Department of Commerce has announced a partnership that includes the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, the Connecticut Office of Tourism, the Connecticut Airport Authority, and Aer Lingus, which together will participate in a tourism trade mission to Dublin, Ireland and Manchester, UK from September 16-20, 2017.

He will be honored at a dinner celebration on Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has awarded an additional $15,000 to Mystic Aquarium as part of the credit union’s continuing support of their Frogs! exhibit.
The credit union first announced its partnership with Mystic Aquarium in 2016 during the grand opening celebration of its Mystic Branch, where Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer presented the aquarium with a $15,000 donation in support of their mission to care for and protect our ocean planet Incredibly proud of our seafaring heritage, in 2016 southeastern Connecticut collectively celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Naval Submarine Base and Submarine School in Groton. The year-long celebration, titled CTSUBCEN, included programs, events and activities like the popular CT Sub Trail, a public art project. All the proceeds from the CT Sub Trail benefited the U.S.S. Groton Sail Foundation.
Through the generous support of strong community partners like Stifel, a “fleet” of 21 fiberglass Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories will support 67 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2017 competitive grants program.
Priority was given to programs that bring science and math to students from elementary through high school. Additional awards were made for programs that provide for the underserved or to support local civic and cultural institutions.
